A break in doesn’t just break your things

Okay, so I’m 23 and I have my own apartment. you have to understand I’m disabled and have been fighting for my independence my entire life. Getting my own place was my absolute dream come true and I love this house with all my heart. However, my house was broken into while i sleeping last night. I’m terrified I’m physically sick, my hands won’t shaking, my heart has been racing since last night, and I can’t sleep. i’m all these things at once. I find it odd that all i can think about right now is how a friend of mine once told  me  “a robber does not only take the material the emotion robbery committed is much much worse.” I didn’t get it then I do now. however, I do not plan on letting this keep down!!

If i could invent something…

I was asked a question today “Linsey, if money was no object and you could invent  something to  help mankind what would it be?” I  didn’t have a good answer at the time. I think I muttered something like “I really don’t know” but I have been thinking about it all day  and I think I came up with a much better answer.

I would invent a machine that painlessly rendered ambulatory people who stepped into it temporarily   physically disabled. The effect of the invention would last forty-eight hours. Then I would l fight to make it a  mandatory law that every  healthy ambulatory  person had to  go through the process at least  once in their life. Now  if  you think about it  you can probably see the benefits of my would be invention. For those who aren’t  getting it that’s okay I’ll explain.

See, the machine would promote equal treatment and understanding. Once you  walk ( or can’t in this case) a mile in another’s  shoes its hard to still be cruel  to that person.  So now I want  to see  whose reading this post and what they have gotten from it.

So now  for you I have a challenge  answer this question in the comments : Why make it mandatory that all healthy ambulatory people go through the process at least once in their lives?( the answer  will be at the very bottom of this post)

ANSWER: simple disability is not voluntary

25 letters challenge and same sex marriage

First off let me tell you I have been sick so that I haven’t been  writing but I’m better now so here I am.  To get inspired I went to the daily post blog and found a cool prompt.

The prompt is  the following; There are 26 letters in the English language, and we need every single one of them. Want proof? Choose a letter and write a blog post without using it. (Feeling really brave? Make it a vowel!)  I choose “Y”   so from this —-> point on I will not use that letter in this post.

Can I do it?  we will see.

I don’t watch the news that much  or keep with that stuff so I’m the last to know almost all the time.  About a week ago I found out that on the sixth of this month the most amazing thing in  the  world happened  the state of Florida (where I live) made same sex marriage legal!

This is great news for  some friends of mine! On a personal level however I’m not looking to get married. If I did chances are it would be to a man but you never know who you fall in love with and  it’s nice to now be able to get married to whomever you love.

However I digress  the point I’m making is this change  means that we as a people, as human being, are taking one step closer to treating all people as equals with equal rights. That is the ultimate  dream.

So what do you think? Did I meet the challenge, did I use the letter from where I said I wouldn’t use it?

An Un-love story: A Haiku

  • We met from afar.
  • Like fireworks, we fell in love.
  • First love pure and sweet.
  • His love flipped my world
  •  he my prince, I his princess
  • our love  forever.
  •  suddenly he’d gone
  • sharp and fast as lightning
  • to another’s  arms.
  • He left me broken
  • My heart shattered to pieces.
  • I hate him,  and still
  • It’s love that I feel
  •  He’s moved on with something blond
  • I breath and live on!

Just a moment ago I was sitting here lacking the inspiration to write so I turned on Pandora and I heard dilemma by Nelly. Now I know that it isn’t the deepest song in world but still the song made sad. After I got over my little bout of sadness I started thinking. What is it about music that invokes such emotion.

What exactly draws us in. Is it the words or melody? Personally I’m most drawn to songs that I  relate to such as Nelly’s dilemma. The song reminded me of a situation in my past and that memory got me thinking. Now I have a working theory about music.  See my theory is that music is meant to be a cue to spark a desired feeling or memory in all of us.

However everyone is their own person who see things in their own prospective  so it makes sense that the same song would cue up  different emotions for  different people causing some to like certain songs that others don’t. Thinking about it this  way  music is a very emotionally driven art form and I too am driven by emotion I guess that’s why I love it as much as I do!

The Daily Post’s writing prompt: For Posterity: USE YOUR WORDS!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “For Posterity.”

“Use your words  Linsey!” If I had dollar for every single time I heard this growing up I would be writing this post on a yacht in Hawaii. it didn’t take me long to see that the adults were right. I Should use my words but not necessarily for the reasons they think. While it is true the right words can help avoid conflict that is merely  the tip of the iceberg.

The  power of words is near limitless the written word is everywhere. in every beautiful thing that mankind creates. However words do have a dark side in any form they take with as few as three words you can mend a heart and in same breath break it once again. However dark the written word can get one base truth remains; words are way of expression, expression is creativity and creativity is beauty. So If you learn one important life lesson from me today let it be use your words!

who I am and why I’m here.

My name is Linsey . When I am faced with the question “who are you?” my answer is always the same I’m a writer. Now though as another year  has ended and a new year begun I’m faced with the utterly unforgivable truth that I have become a writer who doesn’t write!

This year 2015 I aim to change that fact. This time however I’m going to take a different approach. Instead of making lofty goals I know I won’t carry through and making promises to myself I know can’t keep I’m taking the pressure off.

I’m going to find the fun in writing again.I am not quite sure what I will write about what if  anything this blog will be at year’s end but I will make one promise between now and then I will try to write something everyday even if it’s a sentence or two.

This is going to be fun and hopefully at this years end I can say I spent it just writing.
